How fast is the internet in Chiang Mai?
According to TestMy.net, as of April 2026, average Wi-Fi speeds in Chiang Mai are 184 Mbps download and 68 Mbps upload. the city performs strongly when compared to other cities around the world. In general, it proves to be a reliable and solid option for remote workers.
With that in mind, there are accommodations where you’ll find faster speeds than the average. For instance, take Alt_PingRiver – Coliving & Coworking, which provides Wi-Fi speeds of 241 Mbps download and 237 Mbps upload. Meanwhile, an apartment like Amika’s Luxury Condo IV by Natasa comes with speeds of 306 Mbps download and 312 Mbps upload.
Mobile connectivity in Chiang Mai is also fast and dependable, with widespread 4G coverage and expanding 5G service. Leading providers such as AIS, TrueMove (which has upgraded its service recently) and DTAC offer a variety of prepaid plans to accommodate different budgets and requirements. SIM cards are easily available for purchase at places like Chiang Mai International Airport, local retailers and convenience stores around the city.
Is the internet and Wi-Fi in Chiang Mai good for remote work?

As we mentioned earlier, it’s no surprise the city has become a long-time favourite for digital nomads and remote professionals who often return again and again, many ending up staying far longer than planned.
When it comes to any internet interruptions, these are extremely rare in Chiang Mai. Overall, the infrastructure is solid, which in turn makes it highly reliable for working remotely.
During our stay in Chiang Mai a couple of years ago, we enjoyed decent Wi-Fi. It’s a place that has been on our list to return to, but we haven’t made it back just yet. When we do, we know we can be confident we’ll find somewhere with a reliable internet connection.
